Basic Info
Name:Malachi Wedekind :: Child Prophet
Bio
Bio
Name: Malachi Wedekind
Age: 10 years old
Gender: Male
DOB: January 28th
Physical Appearance
Malachi is a short, skinny boy with long, straight, silvery hair. He wears oddly patched clothing that seems to be a number of ripped/torn articles of clothing sewn together to cover all the necessary areas. His sleeves are always too long for his arms, and his pant legs tend to get scuffed under his shoes. Oddly enough, he doesn’t seem to smell bad at all even though his clothing looks dirty. He has pale skin and deep sapphire blue eyes. Those bright and expressive eyes portray in detail each emotion he is feeling inside, perhaps to make up for the fact he does not speak often.
Personality
Malachi is a strange boy with a personality like the wind, though he never speaks except when prophesizing. He loves to dance to strange music and move his body, often annoying the people who care for him with his excessive energy.
However, the boy has a few odd habits aside from his playfulness. Every morning at dawn he walks over to the edge of the void and stares open-eyed into the mists, bright blue eyes shining and glimmering. When he comes back, he will sit quietly on the nearest stairway to his house and ponder for one hour the meanings of his visions. Whenever he finds strips of bright cloth, he must tie them around his neck or his waist or an appendage to show them off. He does not seem to understand the purpose of a woman’s skirt, and is forever trying to look under them to see what is there to the point that the women who care for him have taken to wearing men’s pants. When he is not running around, he may be found playing chess at a highly advanced level, proving that beneath that playfulness a bright young mind lies in wait.
Sometimes after Malachi comes back from his trip to the void, he will come back in a strange or troubled mood. He will shoot angry glares at his caretakers, and will eventually vanish to be found in the center of market. When he does, the people strangely seem to gather before him. He will climb onto a stage-like protrusion from a wall somewhere near the mid-town school, and prophesize. His voice may be heard from miles around. Inevitably, his words get posted by a mysterious individual on the town message boards.
Past History
Malachi lost his parents at age 5 due to a plague that swept across the town. Though the plague was mostly isolated in the slums, it spread occasionally to the city, hitting a few families hard. Malachi, son of a noble family much involved with the clerics, was the only survivor. He had gotten very sick along with his family, and it had been expected he would die. He stopped breathing for nearly 5 minutes. But then, he opened previously brown eyes that were now blue sapphires and looked upon the world with a new vision, and from that day onward he would not speak except to prophesize.
From that point onward, he would go to the edge of town every day to look into the Void. Within a week of his illness, he had made his first prediction. Within a day of that prediction, his prophecy had come true. After repeated successes predicting the future, people came to rely on his predictions to get them through the weeks and months. Some offered him money; others offered him everything he could want. But he refused it all. In time, he came to live somewhat wild out in the slums. That was how the resistance came upon him, at age 6. The leader thought to protect this boy from the attentions of the clerics, as Malachi would eventually attract the interest of even Cassandra at this rate. She locked the boy up to keep him safe, but somehow he still managed to escape to make his predictions. She decided then that perhaps the best thing to do would be to find a safe-house for the boy to live. Thus she placed Malachi in his current residence, and set up watchers to protect the boy. That is where he has been from then until the present date.
Sometime roughly 2 years ago, Malachi managed to finally attract the attention of Cassandra herself. Everyone knew it had been only a matter of time until she noticed the strange accuracy of his predictions. However, her subordinates had obviously thought the matter beneath her notice until then. Needless to say, moves were made to capture the boy. The resistance then moved to block Cassandra. Many attempts have been made these past two years, but none of them successful. Malachi continues to make predictions, as if he is unawares of the battles going on around him. However, there is a twinkle in his eye every time a cleric or a resistance member is killed on his behalf.
